The three-legged Stool 60 by Artek, also known as the Aalto Stool, is a stackable classic designed by Alvar Aalto in 1934.
The L-leg of the Aalto stool is still manufactured the same way as when first introduced. The end of the wood to be bent is sawn lengthwise into a fan shape, and thin veneers are glued into the open grooves. This structure allows the wood to be bent to the desired angle by heating and steaming. When dried, this makes for a very strong structure that is easy to attach to the stool’s seat.
The stackable 60 stool can be used as a seat, bedside table, side table or beautiful design item. The Aalto stool is also a popular gift for design enthusiasts.
The stool is made of lacquered birch and the seat of black painted birch. Delivered assembled.
