The Karuselli chair, designed by interior and furniture designer Yrjö Kukkapuro in 1965, is one of the classics of Finnish design. Finnish furniture pioneer Artek has taken over production of this classic chair from Avarte.
Kukkapuro wanted the chair to be an extension of the human body and used his own body to outline the perfect shape. This process gave the chair its distinctively sculpted, ergonomic shape. The chrome-plated steel frame leaves the chair’s seat free to swivel and even swing ever so gently.
The swivelling seat is made of fibreglass, and the chair is upholstered in black Prestige leather. The base is made of steel and fibreglass.
