The Kupla designed by Eero Aarnio in 1968 was an instant classic. The internationally acclaimed Kupla adds a touch of design elegance to your living room or bedroom, is a comfortable reading chair, and looks great on a roofed patio too.
The Kupla is hung from the ceiling because, as Aarnio himself put it, “there is no good way to make a transparent base”. Floating weightlessly in the air, the Kupla is a comfortably sized, timeless seat that affords privacy while concealing nothing. Like in Aarnio's other classic design, the Pallo chair, the inside acoustics of the Kupla are ideal for reading, relaxing or spending a moment with your thoughts.
The bubble part is made of transparent acrylic set in a stainless steel frame. Both materials can be cleaned with a microfibre cloth. Do not use strong chemicals. Do not leave the chair in direct sunlight either. Heavy scouring of the acrylic surface can scratch the bubble.
The Kupla chair can be hung from any sturdy roof structure. Please ensure that the hanging method is suitable for your own roofing material. Vepsäläinen takes no responsibility for roof installations. Also make sure that the Kupla can fit through your door. The diameter of the frame is 90 cm in an upright position.
