The Riihitie pot by Artek is a perfect example of a product designed for the creator’s own use. Aino Aalto originally designed the pot in the 1930s for the terrace of Aaltos’ residence on Riihitie in the Munkkiniemi district of Helsinki.
Presented at the Paris World's Fair in 1937, the pot was not produced commercially until 2018. It now comes in three shapes and four colours for interior use. The colours were picked from the tiles of buildings designed by Aalto.
This handcrafted rounded pot is a versatile all-rounder at home in practically any decor. Try your hand at combining sizes and colours. In addition to planting flowers, give the Riihitie a try as a fruit or serving bowl.
The pot is made of blue glazed ceramics.
