The CH07 Armchair by Carl Hansen & Søn, also known as the Shell Chair, is a hidden gem held in high regard by those who appreciate classic design. Designed in 1963 by iconic Danish designer Hans J. Wegner, the chair looked ahead of its time, but has achieved the status it deserves in the decades since.
Wegner believed that furniture should look beautiful from all angles. The lightweight but sturdy CH07 is suitable as an armchair for the living room, or even as a lounge chair for the bedroom. A variety of manufacturers have produced versions of this chair, but they say that none of them are as comfortable as the original.
The seat of the CH07 armchair consists of two upholstered, form-pressed sheets of plywood. The three-legged base is oak. The chair is handmade in Denmark.
