The Wishbone is one of the most famous chairs by Carl Hansen & Søn and has been in production for over 70 years. To celebrate its decades of service, Carl Hansen & Søn asked designer Ilse Crawford to create nine new colour schemes for the chairs. The matt hues chosen by Crawford have been inspired by the paintings of Danish artist Per Kirkeby. The new environmentally friendly, water-based colours were released one at a time in 2022.
The Wishbone, or CH24 chair, is a classic designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1949. The CH24 chair is especially famous for the Y-shaped support of its curved backrest and for its simple construction. Despite the minimalistic appearance of the chair, there are more than 100 stages in its manufacturing process. Just the hand-made seat takes 120 metres of paper yarn to make.
The chair frame is FSC® certified beech, and the seat is paper yarn. Seat height 45 cm.
