Aidosti suomalainen mattotehdas

VM Carpetin tarina alkaa jo vuodesta 1973, kun Arto ja Aila Viita-aho perustivat Viita-ahon mattokutomon Etelä-Pohjanmaalle Lappajärven rannalle, Karvalan kylään. Kutomossa kudottiin räsymattoja jo heti alusta lähtien, ja myöhemmin mukaan tulivat myös nukka- ja villamatot, puuvilla, sisal ja pellava. Nykyään VM Carpet on Suomen suurin mattotehdas, jossa moderni tuotanto ja lähes puolenvuosisadan mittainen kokemus luovat uniikin tavan tuottaa mattoja. Jokainen matto on mahdollista räätälöidä oikeaan muotoon ja mittaan, sopimaan tilaan ja miellyttämään ennen kaikkea maton käyttäjää.

VM Carpet on panostanut hyvään suunnitteluun alusta lähtien. Tehtaalla on oma suunnittelutiimi, joka kehittää mallistoa yhdessä Suomen eturivin suunnittelijoiden kanssa. Suunnittelijayhteistyötä VM Carpet on tehnyt yli 30 vuoden ajan. VM Carpet on Viita-ahon perheen omistama perheyritys. Töitä tehdään jo toisessa sukupolvessa Lappajärven rannalla. Nykyään mattotehtaan arkeen kuuluu monia eri työvaiheita aina paperinarun valmistuksesta ja värjäyksestä kutomisen ja pohjauksen kautta leikkaukseen ja viimeistelyyn.

Vastuulliset kotimaiset matot

VM-Carpet pyrkii toimimaan ympäristöä mahdollisimman vähän rasittavasti. Valmistuksessa syntyvät jätepalat pyritään hyödyntämään omassa toiminnassa ja loput käytetään energiajätteenä Vaasan Mustasaaressa. VM Carpetin käyttämä sähköenergia tuotetaan uusiutuvilla luonnonvaroilla. Lähes kaikilla VM Carpetin matoilla on avainlippu-merkki.
