The four-legged Stool E60 by Artek, also known as the Aalto Stool, is a stackable classic designed by Alvar Aalto in 1934.
The L-leg of the Aalto stool is still manufactured the same way as when first introduced. The end of the wood to be bent is sawn lengthwise into a fan shape, and thin veneers are glued into the open grooves. This structure allows the wood to be bent to the desired angle by heating and steaming. When dried, this makes for a very strong structure that is easy to attach to the stool’s seat.
The stackable Stool E60 can be used as a seat, bedside table, side table or just a beautiful design item. The Aalto stool is also a popular gift for design enthusiasts.
Stool E60 is made of lacquered birch and the seat of green painted birch. Delivered assembled.
